TANGO's Response to Covid-19

This is an unprecedented time as the Covid-19 pandemic will impact humanitarian and development programming at a global scale. Our first priority is to ensure the safety of our staff, partners, and the communities we work with. We are particularly grateful for our local partners (local data collection firms, consultants, etc.) who make this work possible. 
From your TANGO colleagues, we hope you are staying safe and healthy. 

We are quickly adapting our M&E and supporting partners to make adaptations to their food security and resilience programming. The following are a few of the ways TANGO is responding:

• We have led several webinars for the USAID IDEAL online series: Monitoring and Evaluation of Food Security Programs in a COVID-19 Environment. See the YouTube recording below with TANGO consultants discussing tips for qualitative methods during Covid-19.
• As part of IDEAL, TANGO recently helped convene a virtual expert consultation that brought together stakeholders, donors, and development practitioners in order to promote a common understanding of the key issues regarding food security, vulnerability and targeting in the context of COVID-19. More on this learning series is found here.
• We are currently conducting remote shock monitoring surveys for impact evaluations in Kenya and Ethiopia, with surveys being planned for other locations.
• We completed a survey (3 rounds over 3 months) of remote COVID-19-related questionnaires with agricultural cooperatives in Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Rwanda, and Tanzania.
• We are revising resilience capacity measures to both capture key capacities of households and communities to respond/recover from the impacts of Covid-19 and to ensure the measures are compatible with phone or remote surveys.
